Japanese food
A traditional Japanese diet makes a person very healthy. A regular meal consists of rice daily, some sea food and vegetables. These protein-rich food are eaten raw or lightly cooked with just a few spices for the taste of the ingredients to come through.
Daily meals
A Japanese breakfast include rice, fish, pickled vegetables, green tea, and miso soup or just the regular old western breakfast we make, such as eggs and bacon, coffee, cereals, and toast. At lunch, the Japanese people visit small shops or restaurants to buy noodles and/or sushi. But the people love bringing around lunch boxes with vegetables, fish, meat, and small amount of rice. The young ones love western food, such as pizza, pancakes, hamburgers, and hot dogs. For dinner, the Japanese eat more rice paired with some steamed or pickled vegetables, sashimi, which is a raw, sliced fish, seaweed, bean curd, deep fried seafood or vegetables, tofu, or tempura, served in small plates.
Foods from other countries introduced to japan
The Japanese may have their own traditional dishes, but their food are not just influenced by the western world. Pork dumplings, called Gyoza, is from China. Curry rice is a mild and sweet version of the Indian curry. Grilled meat is from Korea. These dishes were changed up by the Japanese to make it taste a bit more Japanese style. Hamburgers had some Japanese sauces, while pizza had some squid and seaweed toppings.
Sushi
One of Japan's most popular food is sushi. Most sushi have a small amount of rice along with a small piece of raw fish and some Japanese horseradish in the middle. One may think of raw fish as slimy and smelly. That's not true. This raw fish is very fresh since they were caught at night and bought every morning by sushi chefs. No slimy texture, but it is firm, smooth, and the tastes great. The best pieces are served for dinner. The fish needs to be sliced up in a special way. It takes years of training to do that. The rice is flavored with sugar, salt, and vinegar that makes it special, as well. Name your favorite toppings on your sushi: tuna, prawns, eel, shellfish, squid, mackerel, or octopus. These are the most popular toppings. Sushi is eaten with fingers or chopsticks, dipped in soy sauce, and eaten in one bite. You could eat your sushi with other things, too, such as pickled ginger, beer, rice wine called sake (sah- keh), or green tea. These sushi are very popular that makes it pricey.
